YOUR HOSTS
& GROUP LEADERS |
DANCE CUBA! holidays are organised and hosted by
Susan and Jim of Salsa Caribe Productions, London’s
leading promoters of authentic Cuban salsa, who’ve
been running dance holidays to Cuba since 2000.
Susan is a fluent Cuban Spanish speaker and has
lead six dance holidays to the island in partnership
with Jim, who has been a regular visitor to Cuba
since the mid 1990s. Together with their welcoming
and skilled Cuban
dance team, they’ll help you to experience
and enjoy the excitement of real Cuban salsa! |
DANCE
CLASSES |
On your Dance Cuba! holiday, you’ll learn
to dance ‘Casino’ – the fresh,
contemporary style of street salsa, that fuses traditional
Cuban dance forms with elements of jazz, hip hop,
R&B, soca and Jamaican ragga & dancehall.
You’ll also learn Cuban popular dances such
as rumba, son, mambo and cha cha cha, as well as
Afro-Cuban and carnival dances.
Casino: You’ll
learn salsa as it’s really danced in Cuba,
where the emphasis is on fun, style, communication
with your dance partners, body movement and musical
interpretation, along with exciting moves. And
as well as dancing in couples, you’ll learn
‘Salsa Suelta’ (dancing solo) and
La Rueda de Casino – where several couples
come together to dance salsa in a circle, swapping
partners, whilst executing fast-paced moves.
Cuban Popular dances:
You’ll learn elements of the Cuban dance
styles that went on to influence and form salsa,
such as son, rumba, mambo and cha cha cha.
Folkloric and Carnival dances:
You’ll also get a taste of the folkloric
dance forms that lie at the heart of Afro-Cuban
culture. And in common with other Caribbean countries,
Cuba has a wealth of easy to learn carnival-based
dances, such as pilon and mozambique. |
